Report your injury to your employer in writing within 30 days. In most cases you then have one year from the injury to file a claim. Waiting can cost you benefits, so it’s best to act right away.

No. California workers’ comp covers every injured worker regardless of immigration status, and your status can’t be used to deny your benefits. Your employer also can’t threaten to report your status because you filed a claim.
